matter는 '문제가 되다'라는 뜻이므로 That error doesn't matter.이라고 하면 '그런 실수는 문제가 안 돼.'란 뜻. 반대말로 It does matter.하면 '그것은 큰 문제이다, 그것은 아주 중요하다.'란 의미가 된다.
비슷한 표현으로 The error doesn't matter. 대신에 It's of no concern.(걱정할 게 아니지.), Don't worry about it.(걱정하지 마.), It's so minor, we don't need to change it. (작은 문제니까, 굳이 바꿀 필요는 없어.) 등을 쓰면 되겠다.
