Q. JFK 공항이 New York City 에 있다던데 '뉴욕'은 반드시 'New York City'라고 해야 합니까?
A.
반드시 그렇지는 않습니다만 뉴욕주(New York State)와 구별할 필요성이 있을 때는 도시 '뉴욕'은 'New York City'라고 합니다. New York State의 수도는 Albany이지만 New York State에서 가장 큰 도시는 New York City이며, New York 시민들을 New Yorker라고 합니다. Have you ever read 'The New Yorker' magazine?
