죽음은 일반적으로 입에 올리기 꺼려지는 단어지만 ‘완전한 끝’이라는 이미지로 수많은 다양한 표현들을 영어에 뿌려 놓았다. 사람들은 ‘막다른’ 골목에 다다랐을 때 dead end라는 말을 쓰며, ‘아주 녹초가 되었을’ 때도 우리가 ‘피곤해 죽겠다’고 하듯이 dead tired라고 말한다.

This is a most unhappy situation for any person to be in. Only a "" - a person who is not very smart - would reject some good advice. The car is useless. It is simply "deadwood." Sell the care and buy a new one, even if you are "dead broke."
