TV Programming during
'Family Hour' has Degenerated

Anchor: Eight and nine p.m. on television is supposed to be the family hour but critics say it's into a cesspool, with kids exposed to bawdier humor, coarser language, and violence. Senator Sam Brownback of Kansas is among the critics.

Brownback: The family hour has historically, as you know, offered a safe haven for families - a time where parents knew that it was all right to allow their children to watch television. Unfortunately, that time has now come and gone. According to research conducted by the Parents' Television Council, that Brent just put forward, the family hour is on a death watch.

Anchor: The Parents' Television Council came to that conclusion after watching 200 hours of programming.
