V: I know in the United States we have the Fourth of July, which is our Independence Day, and it's a big holiday and, you know, people do fireworks and have picnics and drink a lot of whatever they drink. But that would be very unique to the United States. What about in Canada?
T: Well, think of this. We have July 1, which is Canada's birthday.
    D: Right.
    V: Oh.
T: Which is not anywhere near as big as July 4, and then, of course, there is Labor Day.
V: When is that? We have that, too.
T: Right at the end of the summer, you know, a holiday brought to us by unions and so on, but it's a day to go to a country fair, to have a picnic.
D: Right, right. Well, there's lots of rodeos in the summer. But do you remember they used to have a inner tube race along the gorge, years ago?
T: Oh, right. You see, David and I are from the same city, Victoria.
V: Oh, an inner tube race.
D: So you would take the tube from the center of a large truck tire and inflate it, overinflate it, and then use canoe paddles.
    V: Wow.
D: And of course, dress up in crazy costumes and that sort of thing as well.
V: Oh, really? Costumes in the inner tubes?
    T: Right.
D: And there was usually a streaker on water skis.
V: (laugh) Now, that's a cooling event, definitely.
