He put his forefeet on the wall, and the Fox easily climbed out, and started to go on his way. "Wait a moment," said the Goat, "you forgot to help me out." "You foolish fellow!" said the Goat, "you ought to have thought how you would get out before you jumped down. Look before you leap. Good-bye!" The poor Goat put his head up, and said, "True, I see too late that I have lent you a stick to break my own head with."

"아주 좋아." 단순한 짐승인 염소는 말했습니다. "그거 좋은 계획이야. 난 자네 같은 두뇌를 가졌으면 얼마나 좋을까, 정말!" 그는 앞발을 벽에 걸쳤고, 여우는 쉽게 올라가서는 자기 갈 길을 가기 시작했습니다. "잠깐 기다려." 염소가 말했습니다. "자네는 내가 나가도록 도와주는걸 잊었어." "이 미련한 친구야!" 여우가 말했습니다. "뛰어내리기 전에 어떻게 빠져나갈지를 생각했어야지. 뛰기 전에 보라구. 잘 있게!" 불쌍한 염소는 머리를 쳐들고 말했습니다. "참으로 내 머리를 부술 막대기를 자네한테 빌려줬다는 걸 너무 늦게야 깨닫는군."
