Three Questions

The abbot went away very sad and in great fear. He first rode to Oxford. Here was a great school, called a university, and he wanted to see if any of the wise professors could help him. But they shook their heads, and said that there was nothing about King John in any of their books.

Then the abbot rode down to Cambridge, where there was another university. But not one of the teachers in that great school could help him. At last, sad and sorrowful, he rode toward home to bid his friends and his brave knights good-bye. For now he had not a week to live.

수도원장은 아주 슬펐고 큰 두려움에 싸여 물러났습니다. 가장 먼저 그는 옥스포드로 갔습니다. 여기에는 대학이라고 불리우는 큰 학교가 있었으며, 그는 현명한 교수 중의 누가 자기를 도울 수 있는지 알아보려고 했습니다. 그러나 그들은 머리를 저으며 그들이 갖고 있는 어떤 책에도 존 왕에 대한 것은 하나도 없다고 말했습니다.

다음으로 수도원장은 또 다른 대학이 있는 캠브리지로 갔습니다. 그러나 그 큰 대학에 있는 어떤 선생도 그를 도와줄 수 없었습니다. 드디어 슬픔과 비탄에 잠긴 그는 친구들과 용감한 기사들에게 작별을 고하기 위해 말을 타고 집으로 향했습니다. 이제 그는 1주일도 살지 못하게 되었습니다.
