 우리나라 대통령얼굴에 된장을 발라 붙이면(실례!) 어떤 형벌을 받게될까? 서양사람들은 된장(soybean paste)을 안 먹으니까 대신 크림파이(cream pie)로 보기 싫은 정치인이나 유명인사들의 얼굴을 비비는 사건이 종종 발생한다. Canadian Press기사의 일부를 발췌해보자.

The man who pushed a cream pie in the face of Prime Minister Jean Chretien could face prison for what he insists was a gentle and peaceful political protest. Evan Brown, 24, an actor and playwright, was found guilty of assault Tuesday. He was charged following an incident during the prime minister's visit to Prince Edward Island last August.

Brown will be sentenced May 16. Under the Criminal Code, a person convicted of assault faces a maximum sentence of up to five years in prison.

Videotapes from television news reports were entered into evidence and showed Chretien walking towards Brown during a meet-and-greet session at the Charlottetown Civic Centre.

The prime minister was about to shake the man's hand when Brown pulled out a cream pie that had been concealed under his jacket and pushed it into Chretien's face.

The prime minister looked shocked and angry as the cream filling dripped off his face and onto his clothing. The pie attack raised immediate questions about Chretien's security.

    장 크레시엥 수상의 얼굴에 크림차이를 발랐던 남자는 자신이 주장하는 점잖고 평화적인 정치적 항의에 대한 대가를 감옥에서 치를 가능성이 있다. 24세의 배우 겸 극작가인 에반 브라운은 화요일 폭행죄로 유죄판결을 받았는데, 그는 지난 8월 수상의 Prince Edward Island 방문기간동안에 발생했던 한 사건이후 고소되었다.

    브라운은 5월 16일 형을 선고받게 된다. 형법에 의하면 폭행죄의 판결을 받은 사람은 최고 5년의 옥살이를 하게된다.

    크림이 얼굴에서 옷으로 떨어져 내릴 때 수상은 충격을 받고 화난 듯이 보였다. 그 파이 공격은 즉시 크레시엥의 안전에 관한 의문점들을 제기시켰다.
