Canada 퀘벡(Quebec) 주 출신의 세계적인 가수 Celine Dion이 남편 Rene Angelil과의 단란한 가정을 꾸리기 위해 은퇴한다. 신정 전야 이곳 Montreal의 유명한 hockey 경기장 Molson Center에서 있었던 Dion의 공연이 2000년 1월 1일자 Monreal The Gazette에 소개되었다. 장을 펼쳐보자.
In a choreographed, emotional scene, Rene Angelil climbed onstage and on the stroke of midnight kissed his wife as 20,000 fans at the Molson Centre clapped and chanted: "Bonne annee, Celine."
With tickets ranging from $69 to $499, the sold-out show was a love-in for Celine Dion, who has a legendary connection with her fans in Quebec.
The international megastar touched her fingers to her lips and responded to the crowd. "I wish you love, peace and above all, health to everybody," Dion said, dabbing at tears at her "farewell" New Year's Eve concert yesterday.
At 11 p.m., dressed in a sleeveless, backless, black skin-tight number, Dion walked onto a heart-shaped stage bathed in red lights. She belted out the theme from the movie Titanic, My Heart Will Go On. She also delivered the expected staple of award-winning tunes, starting with her very first hit, Ce n'etait qu'un Reve, written by her mother and taped when Dion was 12. It was the song that captivated Angelil and catapulted Dion to fame.
Fans were given gift bags filled with small bottles of champagne and glow-in-the-dark blue sticks, which they waved in unison as Dion performed. Just before midnight, Dion sang L'Amour Existe Encore. "Thank you for being here. It's a big gift that you are giving me," Dion said just before champagne corks popped and bubbly spilled on the floor.
Then several members of the Dion clan climbed onstage as fireworks went off inside the Molson Centre and balloons exploded overhead. She then presented veteran rocker Bryan Adams, who had written Let's Talk About Love for her. Looking into each other's eyes, Adams and Dion crooned a few duets, including It's Only Love and Everything I Do.
Dion exited Molson Centre without theatrics and without "a little tear in the corner of my eye," as she had predicted earlier on. Dion and Angelil, who is recovering from cancer, have said they want to retire to start a family.

$69-$499에 이르는 티켓이 매진되었던 그 쇼는 Celine Dion 과 팬들이 사랑을 나누는 모임이 되었는데, 그녀와 Quebec 팬들 사이에는 각별한 유대감이 흐르고 있다.
