  • 감사하다 : thank... for∼ / be obliged to... for∼ / be indebted to... for∼ / be thankful[grateful] to... for∼ / extend[show, express] my gratitude[thanks] to... for∼ / appreciate / acknowledge / be glad[pleased] to...




    '누구에게 ∼을 제공하다'라는 의미의 동사에는 전치사 with나 for[to]가 있어야 합니다. 다음의 예를 보십시오.
    They provide us with information. = They provide information for us.
    The company serves the town with gas. = The company serves gas to the town.

    '∼해 주시면 감사하겠습니다'와 같은 표현은 We'll appreciate it if you... 또는 We'll be glad[pleased] if you...로 옮길 수 있으며, 이때 가목적어 it은 'if절' 이하를 가리킵니다. appreciate의 목적어로는 사람이 아닌 사물이 와야 하므로 무조건 it을 목적어로 쓰도록 합니다. 즉 We'll appreciate it if you provide us with...처럼 표현합니다.

    수동태로 쓰여질 경우에도 '사람'이 주어가 되서는 안 됩니다. 즉 'Your early reply will be appreciated.'는 올바른 표현이지만 'You will be appreciated.'는 잘못된 표현입니다.
